THE SPRINGS
Our springs are big on spooning. They are designed to cradle every contour of your body while you dream: Softer ones allow the shoulder to sink in comfortably while firmer ones actively support the lumbar spine. The result: Zoned, ergonomic support metal coils can’t deliver – and spring-free beds won’t even attempt.
Made from TPEE (or Thermoplastic Polyether-Ester Elastomer, for long), a material commonly used in high-performance athletic gear, our patented, lightweight springs are designed to exceed your expectations of comfort and durability, while their sheer limitless 3D flexibility allows them to adapt to every body.
Even better: The hourglass shape and center-connected design also eliminate motion transfer. Eat your heart out, metal!
THE COVER
We are clean freaks in the bedroom. That’s why we designed a tufting-free mattress with a smooth surface to ensure that there are no nooks or crannies for dirt, dust bunnies or allergens to hide in.
And because we want to keep things neat, our rayon-blend covers are removable and washable. Being able to keep your bed pristine is genius; making the job easy with a cover that zips into two halves that fit into a regular washing machine might tempt you to actually give it a try.
And while cleanliness is said to be next to godliness, we are just as keen on breathability and health. That’s why our cover features a strip of airy mesh to help with ventilation and the fabric is, naturally, free of toxins, dyestuff, flame retardant or harmful chemicals.
THE FOAM
Foams can be a scary proposition. Many off-gas, smell of glue or are bad for the environment. No thanks! Our top-of-the-line version is a premium alternative to traditional bedding or memory foam: US-made without harmful flame retardants, ozone depleters or smelly injection gasses.
Designed to tolerate point-pressure in car seats and high-end sofas, it prevents dips and body impressions and its characteristic density makes it inertly flame resistant. Highly-resilient with a breathable open-pore structure, it helps keep overheated sleepers cool and gives us our sleek look: We can encase springs in a mere two inches of it without foregoing comfort. Plus, it – not the springs! – determines the firmness of our beds.
So much goodness! No wonder we only use solvent-free adhesives when we assemble it.
THE LATEX
Not to be outdone by our foam, our latex brings its very own best in class pedigree to bed: American-made and Oeko-Tex100 certified, we take full advantage of the responsive comfort and enhanced pressure relief this breathable and eco-friendly material offers, by using it in our popular toppers and the Somnium Latex line.
Its uplifting support and overall cloud-like feel are a superb match with our minimalist design. Traditionally known to be extremely heavy and difficult to handle, we pair the latex with our springs to create a lighter mattress with much-improved ease of use.

THE BOX
Sweet dreams are based on this: A flat surface for your mattress to rest on.
That’s the simple concept behind our Box. At first glance a look-alike to traditional box springs, the design is unlike its conventional predecessor: Metal-free to match our mattresses, the sleek, sturdy base is topped with solid wood slats and upholstered in mesh fabric to promote ventilation.
And grand as the Box is, our mattresses aren’t stuck on it: They pair well with any other flat, supportive surface, whether it is a slatted frame with gaps of 2″ or less, a platform or – in a pinch – your living room floor.
Since all the support technology you need is built right into the mattress, all you have to add for comfort is an even surface for it to rest on..
THE REPLACEMENT COVER
Think of the difference between a throughout cleaning and a light remodel. Usually the former will do; sometimes you simply need the latter to refresh a space.
That’s the difference between washing our removable covers quarterly and giving your sleep environment a nice reset with a cover replacement. Unlike traditional mattresses, ours can look, smell and (almost) feel brand new again years after the original purchase with a cover refresh.

THE LATEX TOPPER
We get it: Not everyone craves active support quite like we do. While we strongly believe a mattress should always deliver proper ergonomic support, we also understand that ‘some like it soft’.
Luckily the two aren’t mutually exclusive. Enter our 1.5” latex topper. It adds a plush, cloud-like feel without jeopardizing the underlying support or adding bulk to minimalist lines of a low-profile bed frame.
Zoned to perfectly match the zoning of our beds and clad in a removable and washable cover, the topper is made in California from US-made latex and available in American, European, and select custom sizes.

Just like one size doesn’t fit all, one firmness doesn’t do the trick either. And while most customers find their perfect comfort match between our firm, regular and latex mattresses, we are happy to help you find your bliss — or customize it to your taste for free.
MATTRESS CARE
STARTER TIPS
- Somniums already contain all necessary support technology; all you need to add is a flat, even surface. Suitable options include our Box, platforms, fixed or flexible slats (max 2″ gaps) or even your bedroom floor.
- Used box springs, adjustable bases left in uneven positions and overly soft slats are never a good match, as the mattress contours to their shape.
- Our mattresses are dual-sided, so please flip yours once a quarter. For most even wear, alternating head-to-toe and side-over-side rotations is ideal.
- Practice clean sleep! To keep your new bed pristine, you can machine-wash the cover in warm water on the gentle cycle as needed. Line drying is recommended.
- Zipping the cover into two pieces makes washing a breeze. Once dry, zip the top back in place, flip the mattress and remove the other half. Rise and repeat.
- When moving an unboxed mattress, please make sure not to fold or bend it; when storing it, please store it horizontally.
- Take your time: Please allow your body 2-3 weeks to adjust when you switch from a different mattress style or firmness grade.
